Accounting is Not a DIY Job.

To paraphrase an old term - an individual who has himself as an accountant has a fool for a client.  Just as in the courtroom the penalty for amateurism may be severe.  For some reason, the IRS just doesn’t have a very good sense of humor!  How your accounting is prepared and submitted is critical to your business and your life.

The truth is, hiring the right accountant may be as important as the right lawyer, surgeon, or auto mechanic.  They can all save you a great deal of grief.  You want someone who dreams numbers.  If they have a degree in accounting that would be preferable.  Experience is also important in making your choice.

Great news Las Vegas!  You have Mike Mathews.  He is a certified public accountant with many years of experience.  Mike has an office located on beautiful Regatta Drive in The Lakes and serves all of the Vegas/Henderson area.  I know it’s August, but you will want to get to know Mike Mathews for your next personal and/or business taxes.  So call him at (702) 240-5237.

"The summer is almost at a close in Vegas, and for many it is a good time to hit up the Strip before the Labor Day weekend crowds and cooler days start to roll in."

Don’t Forget the Quarterlies.

As we have written before, taxes for business owners are anything BUT April 15th once per year.  There is this little matter of quarterlies and if you don’t stay on top of it the IRS will be sending you a big, fat bill with a penalty.  Tax due dates for business men and women were established many moons ago.  It is up to you to stay compliant!

Keep these dates in mind…June 15, September 15, and January 15, 2018.  These are your next three quarterly business tax due dates.  As you read this, you may be slightly late on that first one, but there is time to catch up.  Do you do the plumbing at your business?  Do you repair electrical problems?  Then, why would you do all of your own accounting?

You have a business because you offer products and/or services that others need.  Mike Mathews has an office located in Northwest Las Vegas because he is our area’s personal and business tax accountant.  Please take a few minutes and visit the website www.accountant-lasvegas.com then call him for all of your accounting needs at (702) 240-5237.

And You Thought Tax Day was April 15th.

That is what a large majority of Americans think.  Now, you have decided to become an entrepreneur.  It is time to be the boss and with that responsibility comes increased dates on the calendar when taxes are due.  Let’s focus on sole-proprietors and business owners who are not responsible for payroll tax.

In the first month of the new year all of your contractors need forms called 1099’s so that they can file THEIR taxes.  S-Corp tax returns are due on March 15th NOT April 15th.  By the way, Uncle Sam still wants to see your personal tax return by the 15th of April.  Then there are quarterly estimated taxes along the way.

Do you have the time and expertise to do all of this yourself?  Do you trust your brother-in-law to do it?  Why wouldn’t you put this task in the hands of an experienced Las Vegas business tax preparer like Mike Mathews.  He will navigate you through every date on the tax calendar.  Call Mike for an appointment at his scenic Regatta Drive office in the Northwest at (702) 240-5237.

Working with Billionaires.

If you could work with someone who worked with a company or persons who had a net worth of billions of dollars would you?  I don’t know about you, but that would make me feel rather secure.  If you could trust this individual with your financial statements then I think you would be rather safe in their hands!

Mike Mathews who is a CPA in Las Vegas Nevada once prepared the tax returns for high net worth individuals.  Later, he worked in the corporate finance department of a multi-billion dollar New York Stock Exchange Company as its tax director.  How is that for a pedigree?  That sounds rather impressive!

At the turn of the 21st century Mike Mathews made an important personal decision.  He decided to set up his own accounting practice.  That was great news for those of us in Las Vegas.  Today he has an office in the Northwest on Regatta Drive.  For all of your personal and business needs Mike Mathews is there for your 12 months a year.  Call him today at (702) 240-5237.
